In the wake of 9/11, MJ Lasky felt an undeniable calling to explore one of humanity’s most elusive questions — What is true happiness? Teaming up with writer-director Larry Kurnarsky, he set out to create the feature film “The Serious Business of Happiness,” a project born from a desire to find light and purpose in a world newly aware of its fragility.
During production, the project evolved into a profound docu-drama titled “Living Luminaries,” featuring an extraordinary lineup of 23 world-renowned thinkers, spiritual teachers, and futurists — including Eckhart Tolle, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Michael Beckwith, and Don Miguel Ruiz.
Through their collective insights, Living Luminaries examines the nature of purpose, fulfillment, and awakening — reminding audiences that happiness is not a destination, but a practice of awareness and connection.
“The Serious Business of Happiness” became more than a film — it became a journey into the human condition itself.
